random expressions

being a part of alexis' life is always a dream. not sure if it’s her smile, her genuinity, her charisma, the air, or maybe it’s just the combination of all. there are some companies that i know i could live happily with and would forever be enchanted by them. this darling girl is effortlessly one of those.

i am not even a huge fan of mooncakes but the thought of alexis's handmade mooncake in school just got me yearning for more! gah, i love it so much.... :)

mooncake festival 2014

running along seletar reservoir with candle-lit lanterns and splarkers was too much fun. it was nostalgic and certainly captured all the excitement of mooncake festival. these days, candle-lit tradition is modernised and replaced with battery powered led that twinkle in the dark. although these were safer and the lanterns will never burn, they do not have the charm of candle-lit ones.

this year during this joyous festival of moon gazing, alexis went beyond her bedtime to light paper candled lanterns with her grandparents :) there is so much to see and soak in, and even the most simple things like a clear sky, are enough to make our day.

as october draws in, i begin to find myself running down the bucket list and trying to use every weekend here to tick as many boxes as possible; feels like i am rushing against time. so i finally got a chance to bring our little girl to the hairdresser. alexis wishes for a head of long hair, just like frozen's elsa. and having her hair cut into a bob was not planned at all but i guess it completed her looks. it could be more perfect though, if the hair dresser paid more details. sometimes her style works on my fashion sense more than her own :)

happy teacher's day 2014

it is september– be still my heart. my favorite part of the year is approaching and i am just dreaming about our birthdays, our anniversary, the girl's concert, christmas and the man's new beginning in his career :)) about this time every year, i start planning our celebrations. and today is teacher's day. this day brings feelings of appreciation to all the mindchamps teachers who left a footprint in alexis's preschool days.

these bottles of kisses are a snap to put together. they really take just a few minutes to design, print, cut and paste the glass jars, a few minutes for alexis to fill them up with kisses and seal :)

creamy greek yogurt fruit dip with plain greek yogurt

i have a confession. while i know of some mother who are totally fine letting their young kids sip diet soda, i am the kind of mommy who would rather jump in front of a moving train than allow alexis to have just 1 bite of sugar, or a pinch of salt, or a chocolate square. now, here is the common denominator with all of mothers in this world: we are all trying to do what we think is best for our children.

so as i am trying to pump up alexis's fruit intake, i decided to amp up her snack and whipped up a condiment for fresh fruits: creamy greek yogurt fruit dip with plain greek yogurt, peanut butter, raw honey and a dash of cinnamon. there is just something amazing about this fruit dip, and knowing i can dream up any mix-in i like is a definite bonus :)
