the man is down with cough and flu, so he was home with the girl and i today. we casually brought the girl to the playground just beneath our block just before our dinner because we felt she might be bored staying at home on a saturday.
even though the weather has been erratic of late, we didn't bother bringing a hat. now to think about it, it's funny because she was the only baby there among those kiddos. she's an active baby enough to play with the slides and swings instead of being scared, whining, and telling us she wants to go home, she actually finds joy. in fact she gives an envious look when she sees other children playing basketball and catching :) "you will have your chance," i said.

naughty girl can stand
you know how alexis enjoys giving us happy hopes? like, i guess she likes the attention she get? like how she thinks she's able to get her grandparents under their spell? like how she always give the man and i a big smile whenever she did something wrong. ahhhwells, then again, there's always karma. like how i irritate her grandparents twenty-eight years ago.
on a positive note, this naughty girl has been picking up things real fast, just like a high speed train. from turnings to sitting up to crawling and now to standing up herself with support, her fast learnings already brought many surprises and praises from family and friends, even us as parents :) with multiple attempts, she will start being thankful for the experiences that made her laugh, cry and grow. it's about all that she has and all that she will soon gain. we are happy that this girl has an open and daring mind confidence in the future and with this, i am sure she will learn fast, experience and grow.

she's beautiful, what's not to like?
so why has something so daily, like bathing become joyful? with all the recent laughs from the girl, i'm beginning to wonder if my pregnancy active-ness has affected her making her such an active girl. she seems to have no ending to her climbing, crawlings, playing and gummy smiles :) but i think now with the crawling, she feels a sense of freeeeeedom. and to us, it's greatness! yes, babies are always a brand new beginning of life. unfortunately, all beginnings are accompanied by endings, and it is with this knowledge that i'm able to grasp the very essence of life.
"when i was five years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. when i went to school they asked me what i wanted to be when i grew up. i wrote down ‘happy.’ they told me i didn’t understand the assignment and i told them they didn’t understand life."

the girl has a bruise
anyway this girl tend to be a tad impatient at times and that explains the reason she starts crawling at her sixth month and had a bruise :) this bruise on her forehead is definitely worth it, because at the end of the day i think it teaches her something - patience.
so that's how we live our lives. no matter how deep and fatal the injury, no matter how pain we felt, we continue to play out our lives this way. that pain is bad. and no pain is better so we just gotta deal with it. and it's nothing new if one day she's covered with bruises while learning to walk and run because it's all part of growing up, experimenting, experiencing, and learning something good along the way :)

the insignificant big thing
with her in our life, i learnt that what's really important in life is not the big things other people have thought up but the small things i, myself have.
a happy crying baby
babies are never ever complicated, trust me. they are all simple, direct and unassuming, it's your feelings that makes them complicated. things like these always cheer us up so instead of trying to summon enough strength and treating parenting like a chore, we'd rather enjoy the process. after all, her baby-ish will never be back.
another day to greenwich
the girl was bright and shiny today after several hours of naps. we brought her to greenwich again for some toast box, people seeing and grocery shopping :)
on a side note, we started to introduce her to green peas puree, pear puree, millet, rolled oat and mashed banana. she seems to be taking them well and i hope it continues this way :)

today is leave in lieu of vesak day
i love this weather. the girl's freezing under her blanket but she seems to feel so nice and warm playing in her lalaland. this poor girl was so playful and cranky until she went back for her morning nap after an hour of waking.
these days, this 6 month old girl kept crying because she wanted lots of attention and we found that quite amusing really hahahah then when i came to her, she smiled and immediately climbed up to our thighs and wouldn't stop while she held on to my hand. poor li'l girl, cried so much hahahah! anyway such an awesome cold weather definitely calls for a cup of hot coffee with cookies. mmmmmmmmmmm, i like this.

her first video-ed crawling steps
oh seeing it so many time and like so finally, i managed to video-ed her "crawling" steps while the naughty girl was crying out to be carried, though not yet smoothly but it's good enough :) and i think i'm highly embarrassing because i exclaimed.
but anyway this is one of the reasons why i like parenting, especially to alexis. it's because she can transports you to a different realm sometimes and to us, she is simply beyond beautiful. most of the time, we get amazed by her actions and happy lots. that's my way of comprehending the word "parenting". in a nutshell.
