cracker barrel old country store
cracker barrel old country store billboards are always located along interstate highways, but sadly to say, they have never caught my attention. however during the recent colorado trip, darling brought us there for breakfast (as we could not find waffle house). and to my surprise, i like this restaurant! the food, the atmosphere, the service, the people and the smell! this restaurant is filled with an old-fashioned country smell. the fireplace, checkers tables and antique photographs, advertisements household items add to a more country feel. somehow enid blyton's stories which i read during my primary school days came alive in this restaurant, lol! there is an attached retail store in cracker barrel. it sells old-time toys, classic candies, holiday ornaments & collectibles and oh, did i mention about their old-fashioned granny's quilt? oh my, these english-style quilts really look so sweet with the embroided flowers on them.

colorado - winter park
2 words to describe my colorado trip: FAST and FURIOUS
and i dread this feeling, this feeling when time is going so fast without me noticing. this feeling when winter is going to be over soon. this feeling when i gonna be back to reality soon, argh!
anyway i throughly enjoyed the whole 1 week of vacation. the journey to winter park was long and full of falling snow, but i like it (: i had so much fun skiing, snowmobiling and playing with snow. but its always never never enough, lol! liyi and i went for skiing lession while darling dear and chong thye went for snow boarding lesson. i can't blade, i can't surf and of course, i can't ski but i'm glad i never had a fall (:
darling dear and i had a chance to snowmobile up to the mountain top (11,500 feet above sea level!), and thats where i know i will be back there again one day. it was a 2 hours guided tour journey and i never regret spending the 150 bucks (((: we were truly enchanted by the serenity and beauty of the scenery which is so far beyond description.
all in all, everything was good. i was exceptionally upset along the way back home. can't bear to leave the mountain at all ): but nevertheless, we had a great amount of fun together!

if i have another chance to be back in the states, colorado will be one of those places that i will re-visit, definitely.
our first stop is royal gorge bridge - the highest suspension bridge in the world. standing at 1,053 feet above the akansas river, this bridge really has a character all its own. it has such breath-taking scenic beauty that i will never forget! with some snow flurries, i love all the minutes and seconds walking hand-in-hand with darling dear on the wooden walkway with 1292 planks. i love that moment where looking down is even more breath taking than looking up (:

chinese new year eve 2010 - a happy night
on chinese new year eve 2010, darling dear and i were honouredly invited by master heng and daphne to their house for a reunion dinner (((:
lik, adeline and their 3 little cute girls - zoey, zoenn & zonia were there too! it was our first time giving out ang bao and oh my, i felt so old! LOL! these 3 girls really make my day good, especially after the case of my lost ring.
dinner was prepared by daphne all by herself and it was indeed sumptuous. we had sweet and sour fish, ngoh hiang, fried brocoli & cauliflower with mushroom, salted vegetable duck soup, mei cai kou rou, pan fried prawns (har lok), and not forgetting adeline's almond jelly with ginko nuts. despite being overly fed with all the good food, i still left a portion of my stomach for cny goodies! what is chinese new year without pineapple tarts??! LOL!
after dinner, darling dear and i had a good workout playing with the 3 little girls. they insisted on darling dear to carry them as they wanted to touch the ceilings, hhaha! i also had a good massage from them, i felt so like a queen with the 3 girls massaging my back, arms and fingers ((:
all in all, everything was great for the 7 hours we spent in daphne's house. i had a great time eating, playing and laughing. at least it made me forget about my sadness for my lost ring at that moment.

happy valentine's day 2010
on valentine's day, it was dinner in saltgrass. we deliberately dressed ourselves up. darling dear in shirts and i am of course in a dress. i used not to enjoy saltgrass (only except their beer bread with ther whipped honey butter), but very ironically today's dinner tasted so out-of-the-world and i am craving for more (:
as for present, hmm...i am giving darling dear his valentine's day cum his 31st birthday cum our 3rd year anniversary present in april (: well, darling bought me a bunch of tulips and as for my present? hmm, i am still waiting, lol!
a fairytale ending to this special day. darling brought me to watch a new disney production "The princess and the frog".
somehow and somewhere, with no prior plan, no premeditated intent, no deliberate move, we clicked onto each other.
now 3 years later, here we are emerged as a lifetime soulmate where the 2 hearts joined into 1, happily ever after.
mixing together our different personalities and characters haven't been easy. its definitely not a bed of roses.
but working it out together has brought much more comfort, happiness and peace of mind. we grown together to be much closer, more stronger and very treasured.
for all the love you had showered on me, thank you darling dear ((:
